In Vegas, the whole family can have a good time.

If you're looking for activities to do in Las Vegas with or without your family, this should keep you occupied for the duration of your trip. Remember that Vegas is a city of lights and action and that most of the attractions will feature one or both of these features. Take in the dazzling lights of this enormous city and have as much fun as you can while you're here.

The High Roller at the Stratosphere Hotel is the world's highest roller coaster, at 909 feet above the ground (keep in mind that competition is fierce among coaster makers and that is subject to change). This roller coaster has a track length of about 800 feet and features several aggressively banking curves at speeds of around 32 miles per hour for your coaster excitement. A single ride on this coaster costs $5, and day passes are available for purchase (height restrictions apply).

Another fantastic place to visit is the Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park. While this is hardly the world's largest zoo, it is a fun spot to take your kids to see the wildlife of Las Vegas (at least the wildlife that isn't on the strip). Chimpanzees (who are always a hit with the kids), emus, ostriches, wallabies, and flamingos are just a few of the creatures you might see. A full or half-day eco-tour of the desert is also available. These trips teach you how to see the desert from a fresh perspective and are a terrific educational experience disguised as fun for your kids.

A trip to the Venetian Hotel and Casino wouldn't be complete without a gondola ride, right? You do not, however, need to stay at the Venetian to enjoy this pleasure, nor do you need to take a transatlantic flight to do so. The Venetian Hotel and Casino is the only place where you can have an actual gondola ride. Your gondolier will serenade you with the sounds of Venice as you drift beneath bridges. When the weather permits, you can take an outside gondola ride. The outside rides are just slightly less pricey, but they are still enjoyable (they might even be preferable on a chilly desert night). Children under the age of 12 are relatively affordable travelers, and if you go with your partner, you can save even more. Reservations for the inside gondola trip and the outdoor gondola ride must be made in person and can only be made on the same day, commencing at 9 a.m. for the indoor gondola ride and 10 a.m. for the outdoor gondola ride.

If you're old enough to recall the commercials that asked whether it was life or Memorex, you'll recognize the connection to Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. Where else can you play golf with Tiger Woods, sail the seas with Captain Jack Sparrow, marry George Clooney, transform into a playboy rabbit, and sing with The King? At Madame Tussauds, you'll witness some of Hollywood's biggest stars, both alive and dead. Have fun meeting your favorites. This is a must-see destination on your Vegas vacation that will have the entire family laughing out loud; be sure to bring your camera.

Vegas may have been a bit late to the party, but the city is working hard to make it an enjoyable location for the whole family to visit, and it is steadily putting together a good list of activities that aren't directly related to gaming or casinos. Many of these family-oriented events were pioneered by the casinos, which recognize good economic sense when they see it, in the hopes of persuading more visitors to return to the city. During your vacation in Vegas, be sure to check out all of the fantastically exciting activities to do with the family.
